2003 Lincoln Town Car Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2003 Lincoln Town Car?
A: The vacuum brake booster service and repair process starts with disconnecting the battery ground cable along with the electrical connector from the fluid level sensor. First position the speed control cable away from the work area and then disconnect the check valve of the power brake booster. The procedure starts with unmounting the brake master cylinder nuts and wiring harness bracket then placing them aside for future use. Move the brake master cylinder gently forward to the side. First remove pushpins and instrument close-out panel before removing the retaining pin, washer, bushing and switch one after another. By removing the booster pushrod from the pedal pin you can proceed to unlatch the nuts that secure the power brake booster. The brake switch must retain its closed hole position which faces away from the brake pedal arm and its open hole must align upward during installation while the brake booster input rod needs proper alignment. The finishing step of installation calls for performing the steps in reverse order of removal.
