- Q: How to service and repair the heater core on 2002 Mercury Sable?A: The service and repair of the heater core requires conducting a pressure leak test on the component before extraction. Start repairs by taking out the instrument panel then the right-side cowl vent screen and unhitching the water shield through its screws. Suitable hose pinching pliers should be used to clamp and disconnect the heater hoses. When servicing vehicles with Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) it requires disconnecting the electrical connector of the Remote Climate Control (RCC) module followed by removing two nuts as well as disconnecting the vacuum harness while taking out two screws. The second step entails removing screws and shield while disconnecting the temperature blend door actuator's electrical connector and removing both the actuator with its screws. Press and remove the temperature blend door assist spring from the supplemental blend door followed by removal of the supplemental temperature blend lever shaft from the door through its tab depression.
