2003 Ford E-150 Vehicle Speed Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Vehicle Speed Sensor for the Turbine Shaft and Output Shaft on 2003 Ford E-150?
A: Starting the service and repair process of Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) sensor and Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor requires hoisting your vehicle then removing its rear transmission mount nuts. Set a high lift transmission jack below the transmission but keep the back from reaching heights that would harm the TSS and OSS sensors. After removing the rear transmission mount the transmission should be raised off its support and the bolts used to detach the rear transmission mount will need removal. You should lower the transmission to work on the TSS and OSS sensors. First remove the bolt then pull out the sensor from its position. The OSS requires the bolt removal first followed by removing the sensor. Apply transmission fluid before installing the OSS sensor before fastening it with the bolt. Repetition of the installation process should occur for the TSS as you lubricate both components before bolting them securely into position. Extra care needs to be taken when handling the back of the transmission mount because it should not exceed specified height levels during assembly. The procedure entails raising the transmission and mounting the rear transmission bracket using bolts before lowering it onto the rear crossmember support while reinstalling the rear transmission mount nuts as you lower the vehicle.
