How to service the LH exhaust manifold on 2003 Ford Escape?

The servicing process for the LH exhaust manifold starts with unfastening the LH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and LH catalyst monitor after which workers need to remove the bolts securing the splash shield. Afterward detach the nuts before setting the exhaust crossover to the side. First rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise to remove the belt afterward take out the A/C compressor bolts and relocate the compressor to the side. LH exhaust manifold nuts must be removed before disposing of the gasket. The installation procedure requires replacement of a new gasket followed by proper torque sequence when securing the exhaust manifold. The A/C compressor receives reinstallation with its bolts followed by tensioner clockwise rotation to set the accessory drive belt in position. The exhaust crossover requires repositioning before fastening the nuts while installing both the splash shield. Reattach the LH HO2S and the LH catalyst monitor as the last step.
