The first step for servicing a 3.0L (4V) generator catalytic converter demands that you lift the vehicle while providing suspension. Start by removing both nuts and discarding both items before you disconnect the catalytic converter from the hanger. To separate the catalytic converter from the hanger you should first remove the U-bolt. The service of the 3.0L (4V) engine requires removing the main silencer after silencer pipe connecting nuts before discarding them. After separating the converter from the main silencer on the floor you should remove them together. During installation you should first perform the removal steps in reverse order while adding new gasket and fresh nuts.

Service and repair procedures on the catalytic converter begin with putting the vehicle into NEUTRAL position and hoisting it up. Rubber deterioration and exhaust hanger insulator bracket separation will occur when using oil or grease-based lubricants on the insulators during operation. The exhaust catalytic converter nuts should be removed first with disposal before tightening each one to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) during installation. You should remove but discard the U-bolt clamp assembly from the muffler then install it with a torque of 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Remove the two resonator nuts first before discarding them while tightening them to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) once installed. The next step requires removal of the exhaust catalytic converter hanger bracket then extraction of the exhaust catalytic converter and muffler assembly sequence. The installation ends by detaching the converter from the muffler and performing reverse-order removal steps for assembly while adding new gaskets.

Cheque the cylinder head joining flanges of the exhaust manifold for signs of exhaust gas leakage. Cheque the exhaust manifold for cracks as well as damaged gasket surfaces or any other damages that might make the part unusable.

Position a new gasket and install the exhaust manifold.

Remove and discard them.

Loosen the catalytic converter bracket nuts and then remove the catalytic converter.

Remove the LH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and the LH catalyst monitor.

Remove and discard the two exhaust catalytic converter nuts, then tighten the new ones to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) upon installation.

Remove the A/C compressor bolts and position it aside.

Ensure the vehicle is in NEUTRAL and positioned on a hoist.
