Service and repair of brake backing plate starts by taking off the brake drum. Steelies should be serviced through disconnecting the parking brake cable then taking out the wheel cylinder. Route out the brake backing plate by unclipping both the parking brake cable and conduit from its sides. The bolt securing the ABS sensor needs to be detached before throwing away the bolt. First remove the backing plate retaining bolts before discarding those components. Reverse the steps for removal by putting in new bolts when installing the hardware.
