2003 Lincoln Navigator A/C Expansion Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the A/C Expansion Valve on 2003 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Starting the service of the A/C expansion valve includes recovering refrigerant followed by disconnecting the negative battery cable. The service begins with unhooking the powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connectors followed by removing the bolts that fasten both PCM and PCM bracket in place. Disconnect the electrical connector from the evaporator lines by removing their fittings while discarding both O-ring seals. The first step is nut removal and setting the wiring harness next to you before you remove the bolt securing the A/C expansion valve and throw away both O-ring seals. After reverse installation, follow the removal steps while performing evacuation and leak testing and charging the refrigeration system. A new receiver/drier requires replacement only when system contamination occurs from damaged receiver/drier units or in cases of a failed A/C compressor.
