The first step to repair EATC and DATC climate control assembly in Navigator and Expedition consists of disconnecting the negative battery cable. Start by detaching the switch housing before setting it aside and removing the shift lever cover along with its electrical connector. The next step involves trim panel removal from the center console after unscrewing the maintenance points along with releasing the four attached clips. You must remove the screws from the center instrument panel finish panel along with disconnecting the electrical connectors before completing full clip disengagement and electrical connector removal from the audio unit cover. Before cable removal for the Expedition users need to engage the parking brake with (I) selected on the gear selector followed by disconnecting the negative battery cable and instrument cluster finish panel screws and electrical connectors removal. Finish the installation by removing all screws that fasten the climate control assembly. The procedure to finish up the installation includes executing the removal steps in reverse order.
