2004 Ford E-150 Battery Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the auxiliary battery cables on 2004 Ford E-150?
A: The first step for auxiliary battery cable service and repair requires you to disable vehicle electrical supply because damage can happen otherwise. Disconnect the positive cable of the primary battery and remove the wedge that secures it before removing the primary battery and the auxiliary battery. First remove the four bolts from the battery tray before extracting the tray from its position. Begin by removing three harness locators from behind the vacuum reservoir and in front of it along the right-hand frame rail. Pull the harness through both components before moving on. Use the right frame rail to pull harness through front body mounting point after you eliminate three harness locators along its front side. To retrieve the engine compartment harness you need to start with removing its locator and its attached nut and disengage the eyelet before extracting the harness from the compartment. To install the harness follow the removal steps in reverse and apply attention to battery reconnect methods to stop equipment damage from occurring. Normal drive symptoms may emerge after battery reconnection since the powertrain control module (PCM) will relearn its adaptive strategy while the vehicle requires 16 km (10 miles) or more of driving.
