2004 Ford E-150 Voltage Regulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the voltage regulator on 2004 Ford E-150?
A: Service of the voltage regulator requires generator removal and subsequent steps of removing the generator brush device and terminal holder before performing work on the regulator. The generator brush and terminal holder must be separated from the voltage regulator through screw cap removal and screw disassembly. After positioning the brush and terminal holder on the voltage regulator please secure it through screws while keeping the screw cap over Test Terminal A to prevent shorting the B+ battery connection. Install the generator brush and terminal holder and voltage regulator while depressing the brushes for insertion with a wire to keep them in position. Place all components correctly while securing screws before taking out the wire. Finally, reinstall the generator.
