How to arm and disarm the air bag system on 2004 Ford Excursion?

Starting the arming process requires you to put the ignition switch at RUN while ensuring both safety belt pretensioners and air bag modules or diagnostic tools are correctly configured. A continuous illumination of about six seconds will occur before the air bag indicator shuts down. A fault within the air bag supplemental restraint system will prevent the air bag indicator from illuminating or will cause both the continuous lighting and flashing mode. The appearance of flashes by the air bag indicator will happen after the ignition switch turns to RUN position and a thirty-second period of time for the restraints control module (RCM) to finish its SRS tests. When the air bag indicator shows no signal while an SRS fault exists it will produce five patterns of five sound beeps which reveals the need for indicator repair before diagnosis can start.
