- Q: How to service the evaporator core on 2004 Ford Excursion?A: The service of evaporator cores starts with applying only Refrigerant Compressor Oil F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) on R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals and using PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent WSH-M1C231-B compliant fluid as the A/C compressor lubricant. Complete a leak test for the A/C evaporator core before performing its removal when a leak is suspected. The procedure to change the evaporator core housing involves first eliminating retainers and insulator materials before extracting the 6.0L Diesel engine components. Start by uninstalling the suction accumulator on vehicles containing 5.4L and 6.8L engines before proceeding to detach all A/C fittings which includes line fittings for the auxiliary evaporator inlet and outlet and the condenser to evaporator connection. Remove all O-ring seals before disposing of them. Use the toolbox to remove both the nuts while adjusting the bracket position before unfastening the screws that secure the evaporator core housing support bracket.
