How to Service the A/C Expansion Valve on 2004 Ford Expedition?

Start servicing the thermostatic expansion valve after you recover refrigerant and disconnect the negative cable from the car battery. The service begins with disconnecting the powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connectors followed by removing the bolts that secure the PCM with its bracket. The service requires disconnecting the electrical connector followed by the evaporator line fittings while throwing away the O-ring seals. Move the wiring harness to the side before uninstalling the valve bolt as well as the thermometric device expansion valve bolt by removing the nut. Dispose of any O-ring seals present. Install the components by following the reversal of the removal process including system evacuation and leak testing and refrigerant charging. Installing a new receiver/drier becomes necessary only when system contamination happens after a failed A/C compressor or when the receiver/drier suffers damage.
