2004 Ford Expedition Ride Height Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the ride height sensor on 2004 Ford Expedition?
A: The air suspension system should be powered down through the air suspension switch inside the LH quarter trim panel because this step prevents the air springs from unexpected inflation or deflation throughout the service and repair of the ride height sensor operation. Place the vehicle on proper support bases. Service of the ride height sensor starts by disconnecting bracket-mounted sensor arm followed by removing its securing bolts and unplugging the electrical connector. Prior to sensor installation the arm needs to be disconnected from both stud-mounted vehicle types before removing the nuts and disconnecting the electrical connection. Each height sensor is specific to its right-hand or left-hand side so they must remain on their original position on the same side of the vehicle. The reassembly process should be performed in the opposite order of disassembly.
