- Q: How to remove and install the A/C condenser core on 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac?A: The A/C condenser core removal procedure starts with disconnecting the battery cable ground and recovering the refrigerant and removing the air cleaner assembly. You need to disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the A/C condenser core at this step before discarding the O-ring seal and moving to disconnect the condenser to evaporator tube with an additional O-ring seal that also requires discard. Raising the vehicle allows access to the lower air deflector through removal of seven screws along with two pin-type retainers. You must detach the transmission oil cooler lines after slipping off the metal clip and releasing the bolt. The condenser core must be removed from vehicle's bottom through the removal of a second bolt. Follow the removal steps in reverse order when installing new O-ring seals which should be lubricated with clean PAG oil before installing and satisfying the correct amount of clean PAG oil in the refrigerant system. After evacuation and leakage tests the refrigerant system needs charging.
