Condenser

The first step for repairing the A/C condenser core starts with vehicle preparation that involves disconnecting the power cable from the battery, recovering all refrigerant gases and removing the air filter assembly. The service begins with disconnecting the A/C condenser core from its manifold and tube followed by discarding both O-rings. The second step involves disconnecting the condenser to evaporator tube and discarding its O-ring seal. Install the radiator-to-radiator support bolts at 10 Nm (89 lb-in) while securing them into place. Manual care should be taken when handling the radiator because it needs to stay away from the cooling fan while it is moved toward the rear portion to access the A/C condenser core. Validate the detachment of the A/C condenser core by separating its upper bolts and brackets before extending it upward to complete its removal. Reverse the removal procedures while installing new O-ring seals that received PAG oil lubrication then apply the right amount of clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system during installation. The refrigerant system needs evacuation followed by leakage testing andcharging operations.

The removal process begins with hospitalization of the ground battery cable followed by execution of the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure to drain the refrigerant. Begin by taking out the air cleaner assembly followed by disconnecting of the A/C manifold and tube from the A/C condenser core along with discarding the O-ring seal. The installation requires a new O-ring seal which must be lubricated with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent product specified by Ford as WSH-M1C231-B. The vehicle needs to be lifted then technicians must remove the lower air deflector through seven screw and two pin-type retainer removal. Unfasten transmission oil cooler lines from the condenser core while removing the bolts to complete the condenser removal. The installation should follow these steps while adding oil to a new A/C condenser core and including a new A/C evaporator core orifice. The last task involves evacuating then testing for leaks before charging the A/C system.
