2004 Ford Freestar Cruise Control Servo Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the cruise control servo on 2004 Ford Freestar?
A: Service and repair of the cruise control servo starts by taking off the air cleaner assembly before working through the specified removal sequence. One should detach the speed control cable by rotating its cap counterclockwise. Follow the reverse order of removal steps to install the speed control cable core wire properly around the speed control actuator pulley to avoid a high idle condition. Before pushing the retaining spring you should insert the speed control cable slug into the actuator pulley slot. Fold the rubber seal correctly onto the cable cap before lining up the cap tabs with actuator housing slots while rotating the cap clockwise until the locking tab secures into place.
