2005 Ford E-150 Throttle Body Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the throttle body on 2005 Ford E-150?
A: Service of the throttle body begins by disconnecting the battery ground cable while removing engine cover components before taking out the engine air cleaner assembly and air cleaner outlet tube. The electronic throttle body electrical connector together with the throttle position sensor electrical connector must be disconnected only after pulling out the red clip. The first step includes removing four bolts from the throttle body before you dispose of the worn gasket. Use a new throttle body gasket before installing the throttle body with its bolts while performing two-stage tightening at 10 Nm (89 lb-in) followed by 90 degrees. To finish the installation connect the throttle position sensor electrical connector by removing the red clip followed by connecting the electronic throttle body electrical connector while securing its red clip. The installation process requires replacement of the engine air cleaner assembly and the air cleaner outlet tube with addition of the engine cover and re-fixing the battery ground cable.
