2005 Ford Escape Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2005 Ford Escape?
A: The first procedure to repair or service the vacuum brake booster should begin with disconnecting the battery. New master cylinder nuts need installation before removing the two present nuts for disposal. The correct torque value to tighten new nuts during installation should be 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). You should not disconnect the brake tube fittings because you must simply reposition the brake master cylinder assembly forward carefully. Start the repair job by disconnecting the vapor hose/check valve system from the brake booster before you take off the brake pedal position (BPP) switch. Speed control deactivator switches should also be removed whenever they are in use. First detach the redundant clip and self-locking pin of the brake booster pushrod before extracting the outer bushing from the pushrod. Put the brake pushrod on the brake pedal pin before placing it to the side. When replacing the brake booster install it while tightening its securing nuts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). The last step includes performing the opposite procedures to finish the installation.
