2006 Ford Escape Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2006 Ford Escape?
A: A service and repair operation of the vacuum brake booster starts with disconnecting the battery. New master cylinder nuts receive installation while you remove the two existing nuts before discarding them. Follow the installation procedure by tightening the nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Moving the brake master cylinder assembly forward will suffice instead of removing brake tube fittings. Begin your brake booster vacuum hose/check valve assembly removal by disconnecting it from the component. Begin the replacement by uninstalling the brake pedal position (BPP) switch together with any present speed control deactivator switch. Proceed by disconnecting the brake booster pushrod pin redundant clip then remove the brake booster pushrod self-locking pin together with the outer bushing. Take off the brake booster pushrod from the brake pedal pin and place it to the side. Install the brake booster after removing its four securing nuts then tighten them to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Conclude the installation by performing the reversal steps of the removal process.
