  A: The first step for servicing and repairing the floor shift interlock cable includes removing the Prndl trim plate through a lift motion. A small flat-blade screwdriver can lift the bezel of the shift knob to remove it. First detach both screws which anchor the shift lever knob before extracting the knob and pulling out the knob button. Starting with the top of the selector handle, remove its spring as you put the window regulator control panel to the side. For the console finish panel removal, first disconnect the transmission shift cable from the transmission selector arm while dismantling the panel by unscrewing it. Follow this procedure to remove the left side console access panel after taking out the shift cable retaining clip from the floor shift mechanism through the access panel. Insert both the rubber grommet along with the shift cable into the floor panel opening.
