The procedure for enabling or disabling air bag system operation starts with powering on the ignition although all SRS components must be networked together or using restraint system diagnostic tools exists. An air bag indicator will stay lit for 6 seconds continuously before switching off. A SRS fault leads to the air bag indicator producing either no light or constant illumination or flashing patterns that might start about 30 seconds after turning on ignition since the RCM needs this time to finish its SRS tests. A chime will play five times in succession with five beeps per set to signal that air bag indicator must be repaired before continuing with diagnoses in case the indicator is nonfunctional and SRS error exists.
