2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty Vehicle Speed Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Vehicle Speed Sensor for the Turbine Shaft and Intermediate Shaft on 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: The Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) Sensor and Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor servicing requires NEUTRAL mode positioning of the vehicle on a hoist. concatenated lift jacks made for transmissions must support the transmission to perform the operation. The two wire harness retainers located at the rear crossmember need removal before setting the wire harness to the side. You should start by removing the transmission insulator and retainer nuts after which you must take off the LH crossmember bolts and nuts. First remove the RH crossmember bracket as well as its bolts and nuts before proceeding to disconnect the RH crossmember bolts and nuts. Finish the procedure by uninstalling the LH crossmember bolt as well as its nut and the actual crossmember component. Lower the transmission adequately to reach the TSS and intermediate shaft speed sensors then disconnect the electrical connector of the combination speed sensor. The sensor location requires cleaning with no contamination present so remove the sensor by unthreading its bolt. You must apply lubrication to the O-ring of the new combination speed sensor before installing and fastening it with the provided bolt. First reconnect the electrical connector then lift the transmission while positioning it correctly with the transmission insulator and retainer before installing the nut loosely. First secure the LH and RH crossmember bolts and then connect the bracket through loosely installed bolts. Tighten both the RH crossmember bolts and transmission insulator and retainer nuts. The crossmember wire harness should be reattached using its two retaining clips that sit on the opposite end of this component.
