How to service and repair the rear bumper cover on 2005 Ford Five Hundred?

When repairing or servicing the rear bumper cover of Five Hundred and Montego models start the process by first detaching the rear lamps and then the six rear bumper cover screws while tightening all screws to 2 Nm (18 lb-in). After clearing the trim panel from the luggage compartment you must remove the three pin-type retainers and six rear bumper cover nuts which need tightening at 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque. To disconnect the rear parking aid from Five Hundred and Montego models disconnect the electrical connector. To free the total components you need to gently stretch forward at the top front of the bumper cover until unfastening occurs and then remove the cover from its place. Check the bumper cover mounting reinforcements for damage and replace fully damaged items and examine the spacer block for damage during inspection. Reinstall the bumper cover through the opposite process of removal.
