Start service of the coil spring for 3-Door and 4-Door models by removing the tire together with the wheel from the rear position. A suitable coil spring compressor lets you compress the spring before detaching the shock absorber from the wheel knuckle where extreme tension creates a dangerous situation for personal safety. The compressor's location on the spring should be marked before removing the spring from this tool because it facilitates future installation. The installation of the new spring must include appropriate positioning of the top seat mounting and proper seating of spring ends against both upper and lower spring seats. The lower retaining bolt on the shock absorber should remain loose for now but the absorber needs to be fastened to the wheel knuckle. The rear wheel along with its tire needs to be put back on before tightening the shock absorber lower retaining bolt when road wheels have weight on them.
