2005 Ford Freestar Throttle Body Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the throttle body on 2005 Ford Freestar?
A: The throttle body service requires you to start by taking off the air cleaner outlet pipe followed by disconnecting the harness retainer from the cable bracket stud bolt. You should disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector and throttle return spring and speed control cable and accelerator cable from the throttle body. The two cable bracket bolts need removal after which you must set the bracket and cables aside for now. Reinstall the cable bracket bolts by tightening them to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Detach the throttle body from the upper intake manifold by removing its four bolts while tightening them to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The throttle body gasket must be removed while checking for any damage because replacing it may be necessary. The installation process ends by following the opposite steps of removal.
