2005 Ford Freestar Accelerator Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the accelerator cable on 2005 Ford Freestar?
A: Service and repair of the accelerator cable starts with brake-freeing its connection at the throttle body point. To free the cable from its bracket users must squeeze the tabs while also keeping in mind the cowl panel is currently removed for better visibility. The second removal step requires disconnecting the accelerator cable from its retainer clip which is mounted on the left-hand shock tower. Proceed by taking out the plastic retainer from the accelerator pedal and adjust its position for accelerator cable removal. A 16-mm deep thin wall socket should be placed over the accelerator cable end then pushed against the dash panel to free cable retainers thus making it possible to take out the accelerator cable from the engine bay. The cable installation requires you to follow the opposite steps of removal.
