2005 Ford Thunderbird A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser core of the HVAC system on 2005 Ford Thunderbird?
A: A hoist positioned vehicle should have its gear selector in NEUTRAL position to access condenser core servicing of the HVAC system. Extract the refrigerant from the system before removing the middle section of the underbody shield. Tear off the condenser inlet fitting nut before discarding its O-ring seal and install the new fitting securely to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Take out both lower air deflector pin-type retainers followed by removing the lower air deflector from the vehicle. The condenser outlet fitting requires removal followed by replacement with a new one while applying torque at 8 Nm (71 lb-in) when installing. The two condenser bolts must be removed before taking out the condenser component; install new bolts and tighten them to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) during the reinstallation process. Installation requires the opposite procedure of removal while using new O-ring seals that have been lubricated in clean mineral oil and making sure to maintain the correct amount of clean PAG oil in the refrigerant system. The refrigerant system requires complete evacuation followed by a leak test until all pressure reading reaches zero then it can be charged.
