Transport the live air bag module holding the deployment door and air bag unit in a position safe from your body while keeping the deployment door tipped opposite your direction. Set down the module only when the deployment door faces away from the floor. Sodium hydroxide deposits should be washed off the skin by using soap and water after deployment. Probing the connectors on the air bag module will trigger deployment leading to personal harm. Air bag modules that have discolored or damaged deployment doors must be replaced instead of being repainted while memory saver devices should never be used. A warning lamp in the air bag system will activate during ignition switch ON operations when the RCM fuse is removed and this normal condition does not point to an SRS malfunction. A vehicle will only be released to the public once technicians ensure the SRS operates without faults. Departure of the power system and glove compartment opening allows you to reach and disconnect the electrical connector with all three mounting fasteners. Use caution to remove the nuts without touching the deployment door edges of the module then push out the module from the instrument panel followed by disconnecting its electrical connector. To install this component first position the module then attach the lower nut and tighten it to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) before securing each of the two upper nuts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in). Reconnect the electrical connector after you close the glove compartment to activate the system power.
