2005 Lincoln Aviator Exhaust Manifold Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the left-hand exhaust manifold on 2005 Lincoln Aviator?
A: First position the vehicle in neutral and place it on a hoist before starting the service of the left-hand exhaust manifold. Begin by removing the steering intermediate shaft then detach the left front wheel with tire and finally pull out the left front inner fenderwell. Safely disconnect the Y-pipe through the removal of its two exhaust Y-pipe nuts then secure them at 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) during reinstallation. Service of the left-hand exhaust manifold begins with removing three heat shield bolts and the heat shield before you reinstall these components using 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.) torque. You must take off the eight exhaust manifold nuts before removing the manifold itself along with disposal of the old exhaust manifold gasket. The installation requires an updated exhaust manifold gasket which must be followed by tightening the manifold nuts to a torque of 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). The installation process should end with the reverse procedure.
