You should begin the coil spring service by putting the vehicle into NEUTRAL position on a hoist. First remove the right upper shock mount cover together with its retainers along with the left-upper shock mount cover from the vehicle. Failing to stop from releasing the center nut will expose personnel to risks of harm caused by lost spring tension. The shock absorber upper mount-to-body nuts must be discarded before installing new ones with torque setting at 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Apply the hex-holding tool on the stud to stop it from turning prior to removing the stabilizer bar link-to-lower arm nut before disconnecting the stabilizer bar link by tightening its new nut to a torque of 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.). To continue replace the shock absorber-to-lower arm nut and bolt followed by shock absorber removal after tightening installed bolt and nut to 175 Nm (129 ft lbs). Install the bolt and nut only if you verify that the shock absorber lower bushing end caps remain in position. Complete the assembly by running through the reverse order of steps already completed. The correct operation of suspension components depends on using brand new parts with their designated numbers while maintaining the correct torque settings for component retention.
