The operation requires discarding both upper arm nuts and properly tightening them to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) when installing them back into place. Disassembling the center nut is dangerous because it secures the upper spring mount and its release could result in personal injury. Discard the two shock absorber upper mount-to-body nuts after installation but tighten them to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Use a hex-holding device to isolate the stud from turning when taking off the stabilizer bar link-to-lower arm nut before removing the stabilizer bar link from the bar which should be torqued to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.) upon reinstallation. The shock absorber lower nut and bolt require discarding along with the shock absorber and spring assembly which needs to be installed at 175 Nm (129 ft. lbs.). Before you remove the suspension upper arm nut you need to loosen it first while using the hex-holding feature to keep the top of the wheel knuckle from turning. After fitting the new nut on the ball joint the technician should reapply the tapered washer. Subsequently the suspension upper arm needs disconnecting from the knuckle while torqueing the joint to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.). After discarding the inner and outer bolts and the suspension upper arm the whole process can be finished by reversing the removal order.
