How to service and repair the evaporator core in the air conditioning system on 2005 Lincoln Navigator?

A vacuum leak test must be conducted first on the air conditioning system evaporator core when there is suspicion of leakage before any removal process starts. The replacement of a new receiver drier becomes necessary only when contamination arises from a defective A/C compressor or when the receiver drier suffers damage. The new evaporator core seal included with the service part must be used during installation because wrong installation methods will create air passing the core and lower the cooling ability. Start the procedure by taking out the plenum chamber followed by the dash panel seal. For the evaporator core service proceed by first detaching the wire harness from the evaporator core cover and disconnecting the vacuum connector from the air inlet vacuum control motor. The blower resistor connected to its wire harness must be removed by detaching screws that are placed within the plenum chamber. Detach the four screws from underneath the evaporator core cover and set the heater core cover to the side. Starting at the upper evaporator core cover detach the five screws then take off the additional screws to extract the evaporator core cover followed by removing the evaporator core itself. Combining the reverse order of steps from removal will finish the installation process.
