Safety glasses must always be worn before servicing any vehicle with air bags since probing pretensioners and air bag modules could cause serious injury. Commence work only after disconnecting the negative battery cable and waiting one minute for back up power drain while all auxiliary batteries and power supplies remain disconnected. The first step is to perform SRS deactivation before moving onto the recliner handle cover removal and finally removing the seat control switch knob. The next step consists of removing three screws which maintain the outboard front seat side cushion shield. If heated seats are present the electrical connectors need disconnecting from both the heated seat switch and seat control switch. The seat control switch must be installed with 7 Nm (62 lb-in) torque on new screws after removal of existing screws that secured the switch. Follow the safety instructions to reinstallation the parts before activating SRS power and completing the procedure.
