2005 Mercury Montego EGR Valve Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the EGR Valve System Module on 2005 Mercury Montego?
A: The service of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system module begins with four transaxle roll restrictor brace bolt removal before cleaning each bolt with a wire brush and applying new threadlocker onto threads followed by bolt torque to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). The service process begins by cleaning second bolts from the transaxle roll restrictor brace before applying threadlocker to all parts which are subsequently tightened to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft). First detach the vacuum tube with electrical connector from the EGR system module and then remove and tighten the EGR system module-to-EGR system module tube fitting to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). The EGR system module requires a new gasket with its raised ring placed toward the intake manifold before removing the two bolts and installing the module at 25 Nm (17 lb-ft). Throughout the installation process reverse all removal steps in order to finish the work.
