2006 Ford E-150 Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Brake Disc on 2006 Ford E-150?
A: Your brake rotor/disc service and repair procedures start with removing the brake caliper anchor plate from E-150, E-250, E-350 (Single Rear Wheel), and E-450 (Dual Rear Wheel) vehicles. The brake disc and hub removal begins by first extracting the hub grease cap then the cotter pin and nut retainer until spindle nut extraction happens before students remove the front wheel outer bearing retainer washer followed by the outer front wheel bearing thus finishing brake disc and hub extraction. Take out the wheel hub grease seal together with the inner wheel bearing. Check the brake disc then either perform a brake resurfacing or install a new one depending on the condition. The front wheel bearing inspection should occur during installation alongside hub and brake disc appraisal before lubricating the front wheel bearings. Begin by installing the first new wheel hub grease seal and then proceed with the installation of inner wheel bearing after installing the second new wheel hub grease seal. Begin by placing the brake disc alongside the hub then install the outer wheel bearing alongside the outer wheel bearing retainer washer before fixing the spindle nut. When rotating the brake disc and hub engage the spindle nut to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) before loosening it by two turns. In order to tighten the spindle nut rotate the brake disc and hub until torque reaches 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) before releasing it with 175 degree turn. To finish the assembly clip the nut securely after rotating the disc along with hub to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.). After hub assembly completion use the nut retainer followed by the cotter pin then the hub grease cap and finally the brake caliper anchor plate.
