2007 Ford E-150 Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Remove and Replace the Brake Disc on 2007 Ford E-150?
A: Brake rotor/disc replacement requires starting the process with anchor plate removal from the brake caliper. Uninstalling the brake disc and hub begins with removing the hub grease cap and cotter pin and spindle nut and nut retainers before proceeding to take off the outer wheel bearing retainer washer and wheel bearing and brake disc and hub assembly. Perform the removal sequence starting by taking out the wheel hub grease seal then the inner wheel bearing. The brake disc requires inspection before deciding to resurface it or replace it with a new one. Observing a cleaning process of wheel bearings leads to their inspection before lubrication application. The process requires installing the wheel hub grease seal first and then adding the inner wheel bearing before the grease seal. Begin the wheel installation by positioning first the brake disc and hub afterward installing the retainer washer and outer wheel bearing before putting on the spindle nut. Install the spindle nut to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs) while rotationally moving the brake disc and hub before reducing tension by 2 turns. Twist the spindle nut to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs) after rotating while tightening it once again before rotating it for 175 degrees. Secure the spindle nut at 2 Nm (18 inch lbs) strength while you rotate between the brake disc and hub. The assembly requires installation of the nut retainer and cotter pin alongside the hub grease cap along with the brake caliper anchor plate.
