  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle cable and linkage on 2006 Ford Escape?
    A: Start the throttle cable and linkage service by eliminating the two accelerated control cover shield screws that require tightening to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) when reinstalling them. To separate the accelerator cable from the throttle body squeeze its tabs before taking it off the bracket. Safely remove the screw which maintains the accelerator cable bracket to the upper intake manifold followed by detaching the speed control cable pin-type retainer from the bracket before tightening the screw to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). First detach the accelerator cable retainer then take out the accelerator cable grommet which sits in the dash panel. To separate the accelerator cable from the rubber plunger position the plunger all the way at the back while taking the cable off the accelerator pedal. For the last step uninstall the accelerator cable by following the reverse steps of installation.
