2006 Ford Expedition A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Condenser Core on 2006 Ford Expedition?
A: The first step for servicing the condenser core requires refrigerant recovery. Begin by removing the upper radiator sight shield after which disconnect the condenser fittings by removing their two nuts and discard the O-ring seals. The condenser fittings require torque setting at 8 Nm (71 lb-in) when you put them back in. Two radiator bracket bolts need to be removed before installation but they should be fastened with 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) of torque. Tighten the two radiator brackets and the two condenser bracket bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) when reattrofitting the system. After removing the condenser brackets the install team should take out the condenser core. You should move air deflectors from the previous condenser core to the new unit when installing a new condenser core. The installation ends by following the reverse removal process while adding new O-ring seals and performing proper PAG oil lubrication of the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean oil. The refrigerant system requires evacuation following which leak testing must be performed before charging is carried out.
