- Q: How to Service the A/C Hose for the Auxiliary Evaporator Outlet and Inlet Lines on 2006 Ford Expedition?A: The first step when servicing the auxiliary evaporator inlet and outlet consists of recovering the refrigerant. The service team should remove the desired line by taking off the nuts and removal of the A/C fitting(s) when servicing one line only. The service requires you to remove the RH quarter trim panel together with both A/C fittings and spare tire while installing new O-ring seals. The service of the auxiliary evaporator outlet and inlet lines begins by disconnecting bolts and line bracket followed by vehicle raising and removal of spare tire carrier splash shield and RH front wheel and RH fender splash shield (in order). The muffler together with RH catalytic converter should be removed first followed by heat shield and remaining line brackets. The procedure includes cutting the desired auxiliary evaporator line then placing new line(s) in the original position before removing the separate pieces. To perform installation work on the line bracket system the vehicle needs partial lowering to expose rear auxiliary fittings and users should install line brackets and bolts into their correct positions. Secure the A/C fittings together through new O-ring seals by tightening them to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). The new front auxiliary evaporator line(s) require connection to A/C fittings through use of new O-ring seals that need to be tightened to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). The installer should raise the car before attaching the middle auxiliary evaporator lines loosely while properly torquing the first three line brackets to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Check all auxiliary evaporator lines for proper installation while adjusting them as required before tightening the fittings on the middle line. Begin by installing the heat shield and its bolts until they reach 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Then, perform the same with the RH catalytic converter and muffler. Lower the vehicle partially to tighten the heat shield bolt and line bracket at 15 Nm (11 lb-ft) and 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Return the spare tire carrier splash shield followed by the RH front fender splash shield then the RH front wheel before the vehicle drop. To finalize the repair procedure both the RH quarter trim panel and spare tire need to be installed before properly lubricating and testing the refrigerant system through evacuation and leak identification and subsequent refrigerant charge.
