2006 Ford Explorer Motor And Transmission Mount Parts Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Motor and Transmission Mount for a 4x2 on 2006 Ford Explorer?
A: The first step for servicing and repairing the transmission mount in a 4x2 vehicle requires setting the vehicle to neutral position while using a hoist system for support. Apply a transmission jack to support the transmission before taking out the transmission support insulator nuts and the two transmission support insulator bolts. When the transmission reaches the desired height the transmission support insulator should be extracted. Place the new transmission support insulator before lowering the transmission onto it. Fasten the transmission support insulator bolts while tightening them to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.) before adding and tightening the transmission support insulator nuts also to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
