2006 Ford Mustang Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the vacuum brake booster on 2006 Ford Mustang?
A: The service procedure for vacuum brake boosters begins by taking out the brake master cylinder and breaking off the vacuum hose connection to the vacuum check valve of the brake booster. Before working on the stop lamp switch apply no pressure on the brake pedal; first remove the electrical connector followed by the stop lamp switch. For the speed deactivation switch follow the same protocol as the stop lamp switch which is disconnecting its electrical connector and removing it. Remove the booster rod pin along with the self-locking pin and the redundant self-locking pin cover before unfastening the four brake booster nuts that need to be tightened to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) during installation. The process of removing and installing the brake booster assembly requires following the opposite order of the removal step.
