2007 Ford Mustang Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the vacuum brake booster equipped with 5.4L engines on 2007 Ford Mustang?
A: The vacuum brake booster servicing process for 5.4L engine vehicles starts by removing the suction accumulator and following it with removal of the brake master cylinder. The first task involves extracting the brake booster vacuum hose from the brake booster vacuum check valve. The stop lamp switch requires removal while the switch must have its electrical connection disconnected before proceeding. Follow the same principle when removing or installing the speed deactivation switch by disconnecting its electrical connector and taking out the switch. You should begin by taking out the booster rod pin followed by the self-locking pin cover along with the self-locking pin before you can remove the four brake booster nuts. These nuts need to be tightened to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) during installation. The brake booster assembly needs to be removed from the vehicle after which you should proceed with the reverse installation process.
