2006 Ford Mustang EGR Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the EGR Valve System Module on 2006 Ford Mustang?
A: The service of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system module starts by removing the battery ground cable. The EGR system module service requires first disconnecting the vacuum tube and electrical connector and finally removing the upper fitting of the EGR system module-to-exhaust manifold tube while maintaining a seal of 39 Nm (29 lb-ft). The EGR system module requires removal of its two bolt connections and gasket before discarding the gasket material. Install the reinstalled bolts at 25 Nm torque pressure (18 lb-ft). Scrapers made from metal and wire brushes along with abrasive tools must be avoided as they create damaging scratches and gouges that cause leaks so customers should use a plastic scraping tool to safely remove old gasket residue from soft metal sealing surfaces carefully. Install the gasket during reassembly by placing it with the elevated circular indentation directed toward the throttle body adapter.
