2006 Lincoln Mark LT Shift Interlock Solenoid Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Column Shift Interlock Solenoid on 2006 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: The brake shift interlock actuator repair process for column shift transmission starts with placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL position on a hoist. The first step involves taking out the steering wheel with subsequent removal of the lower dash panel through its two securing screws. Begin by extracting the screw holding the lower steering column shroud before you uninstall the two screws present on the upper steering column shroud. The installation of the multi-function switch requires disconnecting Clock Spring electrical connectors before screw removal to slide the switch up and set it aside. Clear rotation of the Clock Spring will be assured through tape application. Remove the Clock Spring by pressing the 3 tabs situated on it while sliding the Clock Spring off and then remove the 3 screws needed to extract the Clock Spring together with the shroud mounting bracket. The brake shift interlock switch electrical connector needs disconnecting while releasing its tab so you can pull the brake shift interlock down for removal. The installation process ends through reversing all the steps which were performed during removal.
