2007 Lincoln Mark LT Shift Interlock Solenoid Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Column Shift Interlock Solenoid on 2007 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: Service and repair operations for the brake shift interlock actuator on a column shift start with putting the vehicle into neutral position while it rests on a hoist. The first step of the service requires users to remove the steering wheel and lower dash panel after undoing its two screws. Start by unscrewing the screw mounting the lower steering column shroud before unfastening the two screws from the upper steering column shroud. Disconnect the clock spring electrical connectors while you remove the screw to push the multi-function switch upward until you can set it aside. The clock spring needs to be stopped from rotating by applying tape to its surface. Enabling tab release of the clock spring through 3 tabs lets you extract the part after removing 3 screws from both components. The electrical connector of the brake shift interlock switch needs to be disconnected followed by tab release before lowering the brake shift interlock for removal. The installation needs following the steps opposite to those used during removal.
