2007 Lincoln Mark LT Shift Interlock Solenoid Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Floor Shift Interlock Solenoid on 2007 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: Begin actuator repair and servicing of the floor-shift brake interlock by removing the left kick panel of the floor console then taking off the storage lid cover to remove the finish panel. Cut the transmission selector lever cable connection at its points between the transmission selector lever arm and the cable bracket which holds the lever. The brake shift interlock service requires removal of the transmission selector lever bolts followed by disconnection of the electrical connector and overdrive cancel button electrical connector while also cutting the wire harness tie strap from the base of the selector lever. To perform the next step remove the brake shift interlock actuator by extracting the bulb from its housing along with wire harness tie strap removal and unscrewing its two screws. Start by putting the brake shift interlock actuator into position and fasten it with the two screws before reinstalling the bulb into the housing and attaching a new tie strap to the wire harness. After attaching the electrical connector to both the overdrive cancel button electrical connector, add another new tie strap to secure the wire harness. The console-generated assembly should receive bolt tightening to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). Plug the shift harness electrical connector on the transmission floor while maintaining locked positions for locking tabs on the selector lever cables and proper insertion of the cable end on the ball stud. Push the selector lever cable into the bracket while pressing until it clicks before checking the lock by pulling back. To finish the repair connect the transmission selector lever cable to the transmission selector lever arm then put in the console finish panel before securing the left console kick panel.
