2006 Lincoln Navigator Vehicle Speed Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the 4R70E/4R75E automatic transmission on 2006 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Before servicing the transmission speed sensors of a 4R70E/4R75E automatic transmission the vehicle must be placed in neutral position on a hoist. The first step for the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor service requires disconnecting its electrical connector followed by removing the sensor bolt to complete removing the OSS sensor. Detach the TSS sensor electrical connector before removing its bolt and removing the TSS sensor. The installation procedure includes applying lubrication to the O-ring seal before installing the TSS sensor with its bolt tightened to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.). Subsequently connect the TSS sensor electrical connector. First install and tighten the OSS sensor with 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) torque value before reattaching its electrical connector.
