The proper installation of cylinder heads requires avoiding any turn of crankshaft and camshaft whenever timing chains remain detached because this practice leads to critical damage for pistons and valves. Start the service by first removing the camshaft roller followers then proceed to remove the timing chain. Start by detaching both the bolt and sprocket coupled with spacer before removing the 13 camshaft bearing cap bolts. Next follow the sequence by taking away the camshaft bearing cap ladders to safely extract the camshaft from the cylinder head. Clean engine oil must be used for lubricating the camshaft journals along with bearing cap ladders before inserting the camshaft onto the cylinder head. Begin installing the camshaft bearing caps with loose bolts before tightening each one to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) according to the specified order. Use engine oil to lubricate installed camshaft sprocket and bolt before torquing the bolt to 40 Nm (30 ft lbs) followed by an 90-degree additional turn (1/4 turn). You should install both the timing chains and roller followers at the end of this procedure.
