  A: All service and repair work on the camshaft should begin by hoisting the vehicle into NEUTRAL position. Rotation of the crankshaft or camshaft during timing chain removal and cylinder head installation should never occur to prevent damaging pistons along with valves severely. The service begins by taking off the camshaft roller followers then moving onto the timing chain. Start by taking off the bolt with the camshaft sprocket and spacer then free up the 13 camshaft bearing cap bolts followed by the removal of camshaft bearing cap ladders. The camshaft needs to be carefully taken out from the cylinder head. The first step for installation is to apply clean engine oil on both camshaft journals and bearing cap ladders before placing the camshaft onto the cylinder head. Secure the camshaft bearing caps with loose bolts before torquing them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) while following the provided sequence. Start by installing the camshaft sprocket followed by the bolt which should be tightened first to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) and next receive an additional 90 degrees (1/4 turn). To finish the procedure properly install the timing chains before installing the roller followers.
