How to service and repair the front parking brake cable on 2006 Lincoln Town Car?

Starting the maintenance of the front parking brake cable requires operators to use the parking brake release handle to free up the parking brake control. The air suspension switch in the luggage compartment should be set to the OFF position to stop air springs motion during maintenance as protective measure against sudden pressure changes in the air suspension system. Properly position the vehicle on a hoist when it remains in NEUTRAL gear. Draw the parking brake adjuster clip downward and activate the parking brake control fully. A person should lock the adjuster by pressing upward on the parking brake adjuster clip before letting go of the parking brake control. Detach the front parking brake cable and conduit from the left-hand parking brake rear cable and conduit at their cable connector point. Press the retaining tabs on the bracket to remove the front parking brake cable and conduit retainer and afterwards remove the parking brake cable bracket bolt and bracket by tightening the bolt to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.) when reinstalling. To uninstall the front parking brake cable and conduit from the parking brake control you should remove the cables by pushing them downward before extracting them. The installation finishing requires reversing the cable removal process and adjusting the parking brake cable tension when necessary.
